A "Showerthought" is a simple term used to describe the thoughts that pop into your head while you're doing everyday things like taking a shower, driving, or just daydreaming. A showerthought should offer a unique perspective on an ordinary part of life.

It happens so often where we’re watching a series and as we’re scrolling to the right episode, we see thumbnails made from a clip in that episode. So like if someone was maybe about to die, now I know that’s not gonna be the case. And most of the time, the description says too much.

Edit: I should maybe specific that I’m mainly talking about services like Netflix, Prime, etc.

I've had this same thought for years. There's nothing more frustrating than loading up YT and a recommended video on the home page has a major spoiler in the thumbnail for something I'm interested in. Titles can be bad too, but at least I can skim over most of them and not actually process them.

There's a way to target elements with ublock origin (element picker tool), so you could theoretically remove all thumbnails.

I'm using the browser extension DeArrow. It replaced thumbnails and titles with community created versions. It's not perfect but it makes YouTube allot better.
