Hi amcjv, thanks so much for getting it started, I can’t imagine how much work goes into actually getting it off the ground. Especially with our engagement not being that high. Personally YCS results and deck lists are what I find most interesting as a non-meta player.
Yu-Gi-Oh!
For all your overpriced cardboard needs! Post about the shows, TCG, OCG, video games, and anything else related to our favorite children's card game.
Be sure to check out https://lemmy.world/c/masterduel as well!
Thanks for the kind words! It hasn't been much work at all - I'm having lots of fun with it. And I've been really pleased with the level of engagement. The community is basically just a place for me to post yugioh stuff I think is cool, and occasionally people will stop by to check it out or share something that they think is cool.
I'll try to keep on top of YCS results and I've got a few ideas for fun decklists.
Deck lists (esp. from recent tournaments), rulings, strategy, content to help improve one's own gameplay -- I like the TCG, and I like competing. I think on the old site, there was a separate Yugioh101 that was more educational, but IMO it's best not to split across multiple communities until the separate groups/discussions become large enough to sustain themselves. I'd be curious to hear what others think.
Thanks for the feedback! I definitely haven't done a good job of keeping up with competitive news (or really yu-gi-oh news in general), but you can expect that to change at least a little bit - I'm planning to post a lot of content about the World Championship.
Could we do a weekly “favorite card” post maybe? That one got a lot of engagement last time, and I think as we grow, new people will enjoy participating in that discussion.
I'm gonna do one every Friday unless there are complaints/objections.
I've been going through the manga again recently (I read the first seven volumes about two years ago but took a hiatus from the series, now I'm re-reading those volumes and then I'm gonna go from there to read the rest of the series). I know most people here are probably here because of the card game, but I'd happily talk about the OG story.
That's super cool! I'd love it if you made a post about the OG manga - I think lots of people would be interested in your thoughts on the series
Sure! I've gotta run to the post office before I do much else (sold my first card online today!) but once I'm home I can write something up.
Maybe some guides or advice for returning players, deckbuilding advice, tips and game rules for different formats.
