"Actually we are aiming for 'barely passable' with our new product"

  • no dev ever.

Is that not what "Rockstar's standards" translates to now, after The Defective Edition?

[–] Gamoc 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Did Rockstar say it would be before release?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Genuinely don't know but it received their seal of approval somewhere along the line, otherwise it wouldn't have been released.

Yes but my point was clearly that a developer wouldn't say it would be mediocre and that the post is a waste of time.

Don't worry, I know. I just spotted a chance to get a jab at R* in and went for it.

I don’t know how to feel about this remake, on one side is one of my favorites games of all time and would gladly see how a remake looks. On the other side I play this game every now and then and it stills hold very well gameplay wise. The sequel also holds graphically.

I hope they don't trip over that bar, it's dangerous how they leave it on the floor

Oh wait, maybe those are my expectations of Rockstar

I barely remember the story and original levels over the Kung Fu mod and Matrix Lobby level because The Matrix was the hottest shit at the time and Max Payne was the perfect game to turn into The Matrix because of its bullet time mechanic.

I hope the remake is just as moddable as the original.

Never played a modded version of Max Payne, but you content reminded me of The Specialists

I would love that. But I doubt they can recreate that neo-noir style from the original. It probably ends up some third person action shooter. Well one can hope

Mafia remake ended up being a great one, I know they're not the same devs, but Remedy does well generally

Is the third game any good? I avoided it solely on the promotional material, it looked very much like "not Max Payne".

The setting doesn't really fit the theme of the previous two games but there are a few sections in New York that are absolutely true to the originals. The gameplay is great as well, probably the best shooting I've ever seen in a 3rd person game. I can definitely recommend checking it out.

Thanks for the recommendation, I might try it out, I was actually looking for something to play.

Also great fun in first person with a mod.

Not as noir and strange/horror-ish as the first couple, but it's so fun. Highly recommend it
