What's a decent entry-level budget point and shoot? (self.photography)

I'm looking to get a point and shoot as a holiday gift for my fiance that won't break the bank. Ideally no more than $300US but I might be open to more expensive options if the quality outperforms the price in its category.

She'll mostly be taking landscape pictures or pictures of monuments/ interesting features, etc.

https://dpreview.com has great filters and reviews of all kinds of cameras. I especially find the comparison tool helpful.
