Just curious, what's the difference between a link and a permalink? If I was to share a post to a friend, would I use, does it matter?

A permalink is for linking to something long term, as they are less vulnerable to link rot.

Sharing an article or video that your friend is going to want to view a few times in the short term is perfectly fine as a regular link/hyperlink.
