  • Brush: Yaqi 24mm Synthetic Panda
  • Razor: King C. Gillette DE Razor
  • Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (27)
  • Lather: Southern Witchcraft Autumn Ash
  • Postshave: Williams Aqua Velva
  • Postshave: Nivea After Shave Balm

I felt some burn during the shave – it might be related to the fact that my nose runs like crazy, and that I have been through 10-ish packets of paper towels. The combination between AA and Aqua Velva did not raise any suspicion – either my nose has turned itself off, or Aqua Velva is good with anything.

Have a nice evening!

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

It's fall here in Maryland. After returning from a walk in the woods, where the warm, almost dank scent of fallen leaves and broken branches pervades, I decided that today is the perfect day to use Darkfall. Wonderful scent and shave!

Late 60's Gillette (fresh blade)

[–] [email protected] 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Nice, I like the Gillette Slim. Do you use the adjuster, or just set and forget?

[–] over_clox 3 points 3 weeks ago

I'm lazy and don't shave very often, so when I do shave, I set it to 9 to just straight up mow the lawn LOL!

Pretty good shave with DBS. Off to the weekend!

Have a good one y'all. ✌️

The B21 is one of my favourites, and I think was my first brush to reach 100 uses. Love that thing.

Also, Deep Blue Sea++;

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, I've really enjoyed the B21 so far. I think this is my third use of it but it was well broken in when I got it.

I'm on the fence about whether I prefer this over my Omega 10048. I thought the shorter loft would be miles ahead, but there's a part of me that quite enjoys the floppy 48.

Fri Oct 25 2024 – Ahoy!

  • Brush: Dogwood Handcrafts Tabak Oridjinal, now with 28 mm Gelousy knot
  • Razor: Böker – S.S. Paris Wins (6/8", full hollow, carbon Steel, square point)
  • Lather: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Post Shave: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original
  • Fragrance: Mäurer & Wirtz – Tabac Original

This is the first day of the last week of TabOKtoberfest, before le mois sans Tabac puts it on a forced hiatus.

This isn't comparable to AA because I get to switch razors and brushes whenever I want, but a similar routine has set in; the soap, splash, and frag are already in place, the lather is perfectly dialled in (and this week, I'm also using the same brush every time). This routine really puts a spotlight on the difference between the different razors I'm using. I got a good shave today, but I noticed this edge is less smooth than yesterday's Puma, and I'm not sure I'd have pinpointed the difference had I changed software in between. This could be a good basis for a new and improved $HoneMeisterschaft AA challenge next year. Instead of using one razor and hone it in the middle, we could use the routine compare edges of different razors (ideally very different ones, such as old soft Sheffield steel vs modern hard steel, carbon vs stainless, wedge vs hollow ground, straight vs smiling) and get them all to equal sharpness and smoothness. I'm a bit torn because it would clash with The Equestrian.

Enough stream-of-consciousness, the shave was great, made me think about shave routine pros and cons, I smell great, and you have a great day.

and get them all to equal sharpness and smoothness.

This is a good challenge, I think. However, as vigilant as I am about creating consistently high quality edges, I find that it is really technique that's required to get a great shave from different razors. With the sharpening process that I use, I can get edges on varying steels to perform almost identically in sharpness testing, and to look almost identical under high magnification. With this as a given I have found that I need to adapt my technique to get each razor type that I use to perform (for me) optimally.

That's right. You need to account for the TWR(†), obviously 😅.

I just found another major flaw in the challenge. AA is summer vacation time and who's going to pack their stone progression and straight den for the beach? This needs to be separate from AA, I think.

Especially in Europe ;-) Us Americans think that all Europeans take the full month of August off 🤣

We should! But sadly, we don't 😩

  • Brush: Maggard 24mm Tuxedo Synthetic
  • Razor: Blackland Era - Level 3 SB
  • Blade: Wilkinson Sword Classic (7)

  • Post Shave: Noble Otter - The Night Before - Aftershave
  • Post Shave: House of Mammoth/Declaration Grooming - Cerberus - Liniment

Long day, didn't have a chance to shave until after little Walden was in bed. I dropped him off at daycare, went for a mountain bike ride, went back to his daycare in the afternoon for "trunk-or-treat", then went straight to a fall festival at a nearby farm until it was time to get him home to bed. Whew!

I'm a discerning shaver, and I know for a fact that I prefer lathers with "more soap, more water". Still, I decided to put Vegan Omnibus to the test and loaded very lightly. I had enough lather, and the shave seemed to go ok. I can see why some people might try and be frugal and get by with lathers like this one, but man it's so much nicer with more soap.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 3 weeks ago

I’m not buying all this soap to be frugal! ;)

Also Roam Two++

Parents line their cars up at daycare (or wherever) and decorate the backs of their cars and hand out candy for Halloween. The little kids were all dressed up, so it's pretty cute.

Ah, nice 🥰
