The verge review is up as well. 8.0

Glad the price is just $300 instead of the rumored $365. Still too rich for my blood but I'll be on the lookout for a refurb.

thanks for letting me know. Will update the post soon.

I'm sure it'll get discounted in 6 months.

Waiting for a price drop, but I'll definitely switch from my pixel buds. Miss my XM4's.

Credit to Sony, they keep updating the XM4 with new features. After updating the firmware to enable multipoint, they just added the Find My Equalizer feature to the app. On the other hand, it makes it so I have no reason to upgrade yet

That's great to hear. Knowing that they support the products that way is what will encourage others to buy their new ones. It also helps with getting loyal customers year after year. My Bose NC 700 continues to be pretty meh. The transparency mode quality is amazing compared to Sony but we still don't even have a proper EQ beyond three sliders.

I just got the xm4s not too long ago as AirPods replacements. They’re not perfect but they sound fantastic, should I return and upgrade to the xm5s??

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Depends on the price you paid for.

Hmm... so update from XM4? Based on what I see maybe not needed

My xm4 are about to die and just around when these were released. My leading theory is their update or something is remotely killing mine.

Sometimes there's a crackling sound on both and the left earbud touch has become shaky occasionally gets disconnected.

Based on reviews the newer ones are lighter, smaller (maybe too small for some) and has a more balanced sound signature with higher detail retrieval. Not exactly worth the upgrade but the higher SQ is noticeable.

Bass is less bloaty, mids have been brought slightly forward and highs are clearer. Imo looks cheaper with the glossy finish too. Didn't find anything about ANC

Anyone here buying a pair? They look similar to my Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Buds2 Pro, which don't fit my ears right. I really want Samsung to put out something shaped like the Air Pods Pro, personally.

I’m underwhelmed. I just sold my wf xm4 and will likely get the AirPods Pro 2. I did enjoy the xm4, and I could cope with how uncomfortable they are, but I am interested in what the AirPods can deliver, even though the stem design I find hideous.

The mic on these Xm5s sound like garbage, but maybe that can be fixed with an ota.

Consider the new beats instead.

You better not look at the enthusiast iem/headphone market then.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Though also to be fair, I also wouldn't pay US$300 for disposable earphones.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

True. But I think with Jabra's you can can actually replace the batteries.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Now that has my interest: Which Jabras can do that?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

I think it was the 65t or something but it's been a few years and it seems like Jabra says not replace the batteries or something now.
