It's not creepy. It's cruel.
It can be both.
Humans seem to not mind the cruelty of what they eat. That alone is creepy. At least, to me it is.
My favorite pop culture appearance of balut is on Fear Factor. Joe described the hard white as impossible to eat and ommitted it from the parts you need to eat to advance.
People in Cambodia is eating this as snack. Not a nice view.
