I'm getting so excited and don't wanna wait, but I know the results will be better if I do. Another pic:

2-4 weeks. Hairs will no longer be white. You’ll want to watch the trichs and chop when they are no longer clear, I wait until they are about 60/40 milky/amber. Pick up a jewelers loupe and you should have no problem. Make sure you’re looking a the trichs on the buds not the sugar leaves as those change color much quicker.

Looks very healthy. Great job!

Edit: here is a good pic on what I’m looking for. Also, if this is your first harvest make sure you have a plan for the dry/cure if planning to smoke/vape. It makes all the difference for the taste & smell. Cheers!

Thank you! The pics are helpful. I've started seeing some ambering, but probably mostly on the sugar leaves - looking at all the trichs instead of just the ones on the buds themselves. And since more of the hairs are turning orangey instead of white, I'm getting excited.

I appreciate the info, and the pics. It's hard for me to compare my pics vs internet pics when I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. "Somewhere around 4 weeks left" is very helpful! Thanks!

You’re on the homestretch and keep at it as you’ve been. Enjoy the grow!

It's been a few years since I grew, but it's looking really close. Are you light cycling? How dense is it feeling?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

She's getting 12/12 light rn. Just squoze (squeezed?) a couple of the buds (oh so gently, and from the bottoms of the sugar leaves) - I'd probably be happy getting these. They're feeling pretty dense, compared to some buds I've seen in my life. Do they lose some of that density while drying? Like, water weight?

Thanks for the reply!

When dried and cured properly, you'll be looking at a minimum of 30% weight reduction from moisture loss.
How long have they been at 12/12?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think about 4 weeks now. It had been outside from mid-May til mid-Sept (I had some contractors that would be all over the yard, so moved it into a tent, directly to a 12/12 schedule - I guess I didn't check the light schedule outside before that tho)

The drying and curing process take that much weight off, huh? Makes sense, I suppose, but still a little disheartening :-P

Did you read up on light cycling before you started?
I'd say your probably close to the end. Based on how long they have been going. That said I don't know the specifics of the strain. Might be safe keeping it on 12/12 for the next week or two? Definitely want to keep a very close eye on for the start of bud rot. If the bud size seems to stabilise for a few days (i.e. don't get bigger) I'd err on the side of caution and just go ahead and crop.

The last few times I grew, for drying I cut the full stalks, trimmed everything off except the sugar leaf, and hung dried them for about a week. When they were dry, I finished the trim. Then into a curing jar for 2ish weeks, burping it daily for about 30mins.

That's just what I found worked for me, I am no pot growing wizard, I'm sure there's more wisdom out there than I have.

Beautiful plant but easily 4 weeks away

Thanks! What kind is it? Haha - I'm not quite sure how to read the label. Is it a Blue Dream × Purple Caper, from the seed bank Purple Caper? (Bought from North Atlantic Seed Company)

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

[–] bizzle 6 points 2 months ago (1 children)

I think it's Purple Caper x Blue Dream back crossed with another Purple Caper but honestly I think cannabis strain names are a scam anyway so if the weed's good it's good

[–] [email protected] 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Yeah, I agree on the naming thing - anyone can claim their shit is White Widow or Gorrila Glue or Grandaddy Purple Squid Brains and sell it at a premium. (Ok, something like WW you might be able to tell, but I think my point stands)

Thanks for the assist in reading the name sticker, tho. I didn't even see anything like it in the list on north Atlantic seed company's site, which made it more confusing for me.

White Widow might not even be the original White Widow, there's disputes over it's origins 😂 strain names are fake, bro, I'm so glad someone is on my side about it. All my meat space friends are like "oh well blah blah it wouldn't just be made up" but they totally are. It's 100% marketing. Honestly any weed you grow today is going to be good if you're a good farmer, and you look like you are 👍 enjoy the smoke!
