So are we all just accepting of the blockchain becoming bigger and bigger?

I was just curious as to the dynamics of the long-term sustainability of the blockchain. When I use Monero, I download the whole blockchain because that feels like the safest/best way to use it, but over the years, the size of the blockchain has ballooned epically. It is now 168.5GB. I was just wondering what people's thoughts were on the continued growth and size of the file required to actually use this crypto meaningfully.

Surely, eventually, it will become too cumbersome to actually use effectively. Though I admit I don't know if this growth is exponential or not, I don't truly understand how we got to where we are now, but regardless at 168.5GB, it's a tad absurd already. What are peoples' opinion of this, and this problem as we continue into the long-term? What if the Monero blockchain reaches 1tb in size eventually?
