He's right.

The problem is, most people that actually want to get started with doing music don't know the first thing about sound synthesis, so they'd rather go for the ones that have the cool preset bundles and the aditional addons, rather than actually learning something about sound engineering and synthesis and try to construct those same patches/presets with free tools.

I can understand that from a perspective of a musician which is not that interested in how sounds are constructed, dissecting them, etc., but let's face this one simple truth. We live in a digital age and if you want to be competitive on the producer market as well (not just as a musician), you have to know know at least the basics. Or, you could just buy the most expensive tools there are and just tap away on the presets till you find one that you like 🤷.

Things in life are always like that. You either spend time or money. If you don't have the latter, you spend the former.

Like me, for example. I didn't have money to fix my AC, so I spent a month trying to understand how things work exactly so I could fix it. And I did fix it, but that still meant that I was left for a month without an AC. Time is money, it's as simple as that 🤷.
