Explanation: The Battle of Teutoburg Forest was an ambush in which 3 Roman Legions (~15,000 men) were utterly annhilated. Publius Quinctilius Varus was the Roman commander in charge of the fiasco, who died in the course of the battle (by suicide to avoid getting captured and tortured). Obviously he is not eager to go through the place again!
