🎼"Try being black and becoming mayor in a small town"🎶

The title makes it seem like Braxton is merely asserting he was elected mayor. Was he actually elected and now he's being blocked from serving, or is there doubt concerning the election results?

The article states it pretty clearly: Braxton correctly applied to run for mayor and the previous mayor, who was never voted in and was hand picked by the mayor before him, never completed the necessary anything to run for mayor. Braxton won by default because he was the only nominee.

Afterwords, the previous mayor and previous city council held a private vote, where they voted themselves in, and "claimed" the positions back. They then proceeded to steal all the town documents from the city hall and run everything from private residences. And they're so ingrained, and have their people in every facet of local government, that they've been getting away with it unopposed.

Thanks for the explanation. I agree with your above assessment. Their behavior is both racist and fascist.

I’m not sure what the final vote was, but the defendant/incumbent mayor admits Braxton was the only candidate who qualified. I don’t think anybody’s arguing he wasn’t actually elected

That was the most racist thing I’ve read in a while. Like, not violently racist, but conspiratorially racist. This should be national news as an example of systemic racism. How black people don’t lose it; God bless them.

Literally racist fascism? Looks like it to me.

How conservatives actually feel about democracy.
