I have an Acer Nitro 5, it's motherboard got fri3d the other day. Thankfully it was under warranty. But I wonder is acer laptops generally more unreliable than others?

Basically which laptops are reliable?

I got a refurbished nitro 5 myself and I've had no problems with it. 3 years going strong and I game pretty heavily with it. How long did yours last?

I had a friend who worked as manager at high traffic location (downtown in one of the largest north american cities). He claimed that Acer suffered higher than average returns due to hardware faults.

Out of the ~3 laptops that I have used since the late 2000s (I tend to keep mine for a long time), the Acer one had a hard-drive failure and an issue with the keyboard. But this is completely anecdotal.

Consumer reports brand-level surveys on reliability, but you need a subscription.
