Another week has flown by in Eorzea, so it's time for this week's reset recap! What have you been up to this week in the game, and what have you managed to tick off your bucket list?

Also am curious if people are finding this fun or interesting. We're still a small community here on Lemmy so am trying to encourage people to post and engage a bit, but I also look back since last week's recap and not a lot has happened πŸ˜… So share your thoughts as well on whether you this we should keep going with the recap!

Recently made an FC this month with a small group of friends. Was allowed to start bidding for housing plots this past week, so I made a bid on a medium plot in The Lavender Beds. Didn't win the lottery for it so I drowned my sorrows... Ah well, the house hunting continues~

Just finished all the routes for the variant dungeons as well. Got the mount rewards for doing so. I do want some of the glamours, so I'll have to rerun them at some point for the currency drops.

Last but not least, going back and slowly working my way through the Endwalker role quests. Mainly for completion's sake. It's nice to have a couple of throwbacks to past characters (yes Hien and Yugiri, you do exist). But other than that, I don't feel too inclined to play. Besides certain dailies and weeklies, I hop on and work through my backlog of tasks whenever I feel like it.

You can always move over to Materia if you want housing, we've still got small plots available for FCs 😊 Probably not the smartest idea if you're not in Australia though...

I didn't enjoy the variant dungeons enough to bother going through all the routes personally. They felt like a slog. To be fair I did do them solo, would probably be better in a group, but yeah, it wasn't content that grabbed me. I do want to go back to whichever one gives you the giant pixie mount though at some point. Will get to that some day.

I finally got my last Endwalker role quest done a few weeks ago too! I didn't have a high level melee DPS and picked up Viper after Dawntrail so was finally about to get through it all (kinda cheated in ShB since melee and ranged were just grouped as physical DPS). They're a bit of fun honestly, I enjoyed doing them. Hope you are as well!

And nothing wrong with feeling disinclined to play for a bit! The game is honestly structured around that, so put your feet up so to speak, do what you feel like doing and don't feel worried about not logging on!

It's less that there's lack of plots, but that the "good" plots are highly contested when available, hehe. I have a small house myself, so I was kind of pushing for a medium plot for the FC so I can experiment with the extra housing slots.

That's fair. The variant dungeons can feel like a slog, but I enjoyed the music and just looking at the scenery. I actually also enjoyed the fact that I could do them solo at my own pace, but I am more or less a lone wolf type of player. Doing the odd route every now and then probably attributed to less burnout too.

Well, I'm enjoying the Endwalker role quests more than the Dawntrail ones. I can guarantee that. That does remind me that there are some optional quests to tie up the job role quests from pre-Shadowbringers...

Don't worry, I'm embracing the non-grind mentality. Plus, there's a bunch of upcoming games coming out (Final Fantasy XVI), so I'll be occupied anyhow.

And yeah, totally understand about the lack of good plots. That being said if you can afford it I'd still recommend getting your foot in the door so to speak with a view to upgrade later when you can, only because it gives you access to the company workshop and submarines, which while it takes months to fully max out eventually becomes a license to print gil with minimal work. And since it does take a while to get to that point, the earlier you start the sooner you'll be done.

Plus you can unlock workshop crafts to make the new housing facades. They're often a good money maker right when the new patches drop!

Funnily enough, I was going to look up whether progress from workshops and the like are transferred when upgrading to larger plots. So I have been looking at smaller plots to at least get things going. Thanks for the information!

And yeah, I actually really like the new cottage walls. Being a big fan of Final Fantasy IX, it really hits me with nostalgia. That's sort of why I was looking for a plot in The Lavender Beds - I think the cottage walls really suit the aesthetics there. And another revenue source wouldn't go amiss, haha.

Fun fact as well, if you have one of the custom facades being used on your house and then upgrade to a larger plot, the facade upgrades to the new size as well! So you don't need to say grab a small one initially and then craft a medium one later, it'll just upgrade with the plot.

Don't think it applies to the piecemeal facades though (not 100% sure on that) where you pick all the individual features.

Pushing through post-StB to finally get into Shadowbringers. Maxed out rep for Ixial tribe. Unlocked Eureka Pagos. And finished Zodiac Animus for bard, which took FOREVER.

[–] Drusenija 2 points 3 months ago (1 children)

Urgh, the Zodiac weapons are such a grind πŸ˜’ But congratulations on getting it done! Now you can decide if you want to keep it or trade it in to skip a step in the HW relics. Since you're never going to use it for stats these days, and trading it in permanently unlocks the ability to by replicas (if you haven't you need to have the weapon on you to purchase the replicas, so if you lose it for some reason you have to do it all over again), it's usually a good option to pursue.

And good job on the Ixali - that too is a big grind and I was so happy when it was finally done! Now you can finally get rid of that stupid crafting glove πŸ˜…

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 months ago

I didn’t know about the replica thing. That’s great info. I had planned on keeping it, but now it seems like I get to skip the first leg of that quest with no regrets! And yeah, I forget to equip those damn gloves EVERY TIME.

I was away over the weekend so was a short week for me in game this week, but I'm trying to start tanking more in content to get more familiar with it. I think I'm finally at a point now where I'm comfortable just joining a roulette at any level as a Warrior and can do the Arcadion raids as a MT. Just need to use my mitigations more frequently.

Cleared DRS last week for the first time. I had kind of avoided it because I'd heard mixed things, and bozja / field op stuff never really caught my interest (I had ranked up to 22 but kind of didn't enjoy the format). The past couple weeks I got back into it and something clicked and I realized it's exactly the sort of content I've been wanting.

Lost actions / essences, while still kind of annoying to farm (I ended up just buying some from MB), give you flexibility in builds that no other content does. Also the duel system that confused the hell out of me before has given me a challenge to look forward to while I'm farming in Zadnor. I think it helps that the instances aren't too crowded anymore so it's easier to get into duels to practice.

So when I joined a couple of field op discords and noticed there are multiple DRS runs per week, I decided what the hell, I always wanted the mount. I spent a few hours reading guides & got my holster prepped, and joined a run. The first run was a blast, but ultimately we wiped on Queen's Guard and didn't re-instance that night. The second run I joined was 48/48 with a lot of vets and we tore through the bosses, but it was still definitely a challenge (my goal was to not die too terribly and embarrass myself), and I felt like I could contribute even being a newbie.

I've done a lot of raiding in this game, but DRS was some of the most fun I remember having in grouped content. Definitely recommend it if you think it might tickle your fancy.

There's usually Discord servers too that coordinate runs on the different servers if it's something you're wanting to jump into! I haven't does DRS yet but there's a new DRS player group planned for the start of next month on Materia that I'm really thinking about giving a go (especially since it's a weekend where my wife is away so I'll be at home just with the kids so taking over the lounge room for a run wouldn't be a major hassle 😊).

Congrats on the clear, and the mount!

You should give it a go! And if anyone reading this is in NA and interested, this schedule linked below seems to be kept up to date. Just make sure to read up on the fights and figure out what build your role needs. The essences are not optional.
