Generally, an artifact should be 100+ years old, but this is a flexible requirement if you find something rare and suitably linked to an era of history, not a strict rule. Anything over 100 is fair game regardless of rarity.

Note the arm armor and the ridged helmet - both unique innovations of the period due to the Dacians' use of the falx, a curious curved blade that could reach around a Roman's shield and get at the soft fleshy bits inside. These innovations would not be widely adopted outside of the Dacian Wars. Seems the extra protection just wasn't worth it against most foes!
