This community is dedicated to the discussion about the Raccoon for Lemmy mobile app. Raccoon is an open source app powered by Kotlin Multiplatform (KMP) and Compose Multiplatform (CMP) which intends not only to provide a mobile client for Lemmy, but also to create a space where users' voice is listened to, and we grow together by exchanging opinions.

Why was the project started?

We believe that Lemmy has a lot of potential and part of its success depends on users being able to enjoy the experience on robust and well-done clients. Just asking, because I do not see much activity on Github or here. Not blaming or complaining. Just wondering if I should slowly move on to another client. I really wouldn't want to do that, of course.

No, someone make a comparison post of how the various apps compare with markup support, raccoon ranked lowly, and the dev decided to call it quits.

Edit: well, I guess it's been picked up again?

It was picked up after the original developer threw in the towel.

But I haven't seen much movement beyond that last move. So my question: is this still alive and should I be patient or look elsewhere?

I can confirm it is definitely still alive!

Unfortunately the past few weeks are the busiest of the year for me at work, and there's been a lot going on in my personal life, so most of my code work is being done behind the scenes.

That said, I know we talked about getting a build out in early September, so I'm going to try and make time with Akesi soon to get that done, as I think I'm the holdup there 😂

Utter brilliance.

Thanks for the reply. No rush. Life comes first. 🙂

I see, I guess that depends how usable it is. I'm using Sync which hasn't had an update in months (I am confident it's in the works) but no other app still compares to me.
