Mikel Arteta confirmed new signing Mikel Merino will be out for a few weeks with a shoulder fracture after a collision with defender Gabriel in training.

Takehiro Tomiyasu and Gabriel Jesus are also ruled out for the clash with Brighton.

Albion midfielder Matt O’Riley misses out and will require surgery after he was injured 10 minutes into his debut against Crawley in the Carabao Cup.

Solly March and Brajan Gruda have been ruled out but manager Fabian Hurzeler revealed Pervis Estupinan and Mats Wieffer’s return to action is imminent
