Good morning sober family!

We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you’re new to c/stop drinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, let’s not drink alcohol!

I started my sober streak a week ago, because I'm taking antibiotics. But I hope to keep it up indefinitely.

I will not drink with you today!

A week is a great start! How do you feel?

[–] Hule 3 points 3 months ago

Thank You, I'm feeling okay. Some dark thoughts when in bed..

Happy hump day! One day closer to the weekend and hopefully a long one for the USA folks! No drinking for me today.

Yes!!! A lazy Monday for me! ❤️

I should probably join you all. The problem is that I'm disabled in such a way that I can barely do anything and it's just so damn boring. I used to be so active. Now I can do things like watch TV and listen to audiobooks.

Great for a few weeks. Not for eternity.

Any interest in video games? Microsoft surprisingly has quite a few accessibility focused gaming accessories that might help out if you are interested. But I feel you, I’ve been stuck on the couch for the past month up until a week ago with heart shit and it started to drive me insane.

Best wishes!

I play video games when I can, but my condition causes a lot of joint and muscle pain, so I can't play most games anymore. And I can't play too regularly.

Any muscle activity leads to pain and fatigue, but especially repetitive motions. Like using your thumb or index finger to click click click click click.

Gotcha, that blows I’m sorry :( there still might be some accessories that could help out a bit. Do you have medical marijuana available where you are at all? My wife has had back and joint issues from gymnastics when she was younger and that has helped quite a bit

We do, and that does help with the pain more than anything else has. Unfortunately, I find that edibles don't really do much of anything and I also have a genetic lung disease (well, it's more than a lung disease, but it impacts the lungs--cystic fibrosis), so I really ought not to be smoking or vaping.... I used the concentrated oil for a while, but it's pretty gross and very expensive.

Edit: Btw, I'm not trying to shoot down your suggestions and I very much appreciate any you have. It's just that I have a lot of medical issues which impair my ability to basically use my muscles in any way more than a little bit here and there.

Yeah, nah. I get that. Sorry you are having to deal with that shit. There is some cool stuff happening in medicine, hopefully something comes from it and you can get some relief soon. I would totally want to be drinking tho, for reals.

Appreciated, thank you.

Oh that’s a big one CF. Hugs to you. I was going to say, one of my issues with video games is the first person makes me nauseous after 20 minutes. Started out 30 years ago with Doom. Last week I was playing a Roblox game with my niece and neatly barfed. 🤢🤮😭

Oof, that sucks. I only ever had that problem with Wolfenstein, fortunately. And anything VR.
