MODERATORS

As you well aware, privacy is becoming an increasingly important issue in our digital age. Many people are looking for safe spaces where they can discuss their concerns and learn from others who share their values. So much so to this day we've seen dozens of communities and instances dedicated to the topic. However, the authors often struggle to fill those communities/instances with enough content to attract and retain a sizeable audience.

these include but not limited to

That's why I would like to suggest to consider hosting (by means of autoreposting) all privacy-related content on this instance.

By doing so, this instance would be providing a valuable service to those who are seeking a secure and private platform for their discussions. At the same time, you would be expanding the reach and influence of your own instance, becoming a single most complete privacy related place on fediverse.

I understand that hosting multiple communities may require additional resources and effort on your part. However, I believe that the benefits of doing so would far outweigh any costs. You would be helping to build a stronger, more connected community of privacy advocates, and you would be positioning your instance as a leader in this space.

I think that this is a good idea, however I do not have the moderation capacity to do this unfortunately, and the Privacy Guides team is not interested in running a general "privacy" community as opposed to just [email protected] for numerous reasons.

In an ideal world, the mods of r/privacy would be interested in setting up shop on Lemmy.one or their own instance, and this is an idea I've floated by them since we do talk, but I can't force them to be as excited about the fediverse as I am :)

I thought PG staff are the mods/mod of r/privacy?

however I do not have the moderation capacity

Is PG staff/affiliates not running multiple privacy matrix rooms anymore?

No we have nothing to do with r/privacy :)

Could you clarify what kind of help you might need to host dedicated repost-community-bridges for other privacy subs?

Additionally to minimize moderation in such repost-communities we can setup the config to repost only few daily top posts. This way Lemmy.one will have only highest quality feed with freshest content.

It would be indeed amazing to bring active contributors from r/privacy to Lemmy.one and as of now we can prove to them that fediverse is viable platform by illustrating the engagement on posts from external sources.

Am sorry if I sound pushy and I wanna acknowledge that I do get that this idea might take more involvement than you ever intended for this instance. Thank you for your response

Is there a program you have in mind which can do this automatic reposting? I’m not aware of a Lemmy feature which does this.

I think you're right and there's isn't one as of yet -- which is a shame; however, due to lemmy's subs having RSS feeds and mastodon's ability to post on lemmy (by tagging a community), I made a simple proof of concept trigger on IFTTT (because it's free)

RSS to mastodon recipe on IFTTT

Admittedly this might be clunky to rely on 3 external services just to copy paste content inside the federation 😞

If you can link something to me, I'll figure a way to automagically crosspost it to my instance
