9th graders learn Linux for the environment!

Last week in #Hannover, #KDEEco joined Akademie der Spiele, an event for 200+ students with 20+ career/cultural workshops.

Students salvaged dozens of computers with #OpenSource #FreeSoftware.

They learned about the #environmental costs of #eWaste and device production.

They presented their work to peers and teachers!

Some even played gamesπŸš€

We're proud of our students - congrats for all you achieved in only 5 days!

@be4foss @kde That's awesome to see children learning Linux and FOSS. When I was growing up it was all Windows in education. Only in universities did they introduce what Linux is

When I was growing up it was all Macs due to their scholastic program.

Bazzite, huh?

This is such a good idea. Are there teaching materials available?

[–] [email protected] 7 points 2 months ago

@hecklerundkochli Thank you! There are not many materials yet as the Opt Green project is still in the beginning stages.

All materials will be collected at the project repository: https://invent.kde.org/teams/eco/opt-green/.

And eventually they will be included in a how-to e-book for GNU/Linux installations from an environmental perspective.

We will continue to post updates in the project, so keep an eye here for news πŸ™‚

Those faces are not properly blurred. It can be reversed with some effort and it won't stop people from potentially recognizing them.

Just something to keep in mind. Keep up the good work

The Steam handle is clearly visible, too.

Clearly might be a stretch

However, it still should be cleaned

Perhaps a whiteout with just the silhouette? (to make them look like human faces)

Or maybe just clone stamp their hair all over the face 😈

Realised after reading this, that they had opened Steam.
And here I was thinking it was something Academic (it was Akademic).

So, Undertale types out "Linux", for some reason?

If this image were on the newspaper 10 years ago, ~~I would be amazed at the image quality. But that's not the point.~~
I would think they were being treated as criminals for using Linux (blurry faces and all).

BitBurner should be a voluntary homework assignment.
