Honestly, I think it would be the best for both parties to rip the band aid off and just let him go. David will find someplace else where he can earn big with his brand still fresh from United, and we can properly find a no.1 for Ten Hag.

Is a "retain list" provided by all PL teams by a certain time?

I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong), the teams have to provide these lists to the league by a certain time, but the contracts don't actually expire until the end of the month. Also, these lists aren't final once given in, nothing stops the clubs from negotiating with anyone not on the retained list

So, this could be a tactic to move things along, kind of like saying to David, "Fish or cut bait"... Either sign and commit to MANU or move along to Saudi Arabia (I think that's were he got an offer, like CR7)

Could be, but I believe if a contract hasn't been agreed then they can't put the player on the retain list (again someone correct me if I'm wrong)
