The AI boyfriend on the phone was manipulative, threatening, and aggressive. Anna's 12-year-old daughter became completely obsessed with the app, spending a shocking 100 hours on it in just ten days. Now her mother is issuing a stark warning: "I believe this could cause lasting brain damage," she says.

AI being AI but also a 12y old must be neglected so much to spend that long online, 10h/day 10 days in a row without some adult intervention at all is pretty insane itself imo.

"*turns* abusive" is a bit of a stretch if you go ahead and specifically choose the "abusive boyfriend" character.

But a more serious question: Are they out of their minds? It seems super clear to me that the AI thing in this story is a symptom, not the cause. So... blame it on AI and be done with it? Some parenting advice from me: Your daughter seems to be struggling. I mean growing up ain't easy anyways, but it seems to me that she's having some more issues. Don't look for someone to blame. Don't even write an article about it. Help your daughter with whatever underlying things she's dealing with!

If anything, this article tells us something about her inconsiderate and negligent parents. I really hope this article is just omitting half of the story and she has someone who is there for her.
