That looks difficult to run or fight in. Was it only for use from a chariot?
Honestly, it was probably mostly for show and protection, let the troops know the Pharaoh is there without having him ready to become a pincushion. But yes, the Pharaoh, if he fought at all, would have done so from a chariot, as chariots were considered the 'high class' wing of an army.
I imagine he probably rode around, completely surrounded by royal guard, and shot poor conscripted men with his bow.
