That first really smoky day was so ominous. I remember we'd been having air quality alerts for a while, but I figured that was just for sick people to worry about. Then that one day it got smelly and the smoke became visible. When it finally cleared I realized the irritation from the smoke was why I was having to double up on my allergy medication.
