Hello new Lemmy friends!
Word on the street tells us our community is regularly making it the all page. While this is very cool news to hear, we can see how the sudden emergence of our posts in your feed might feel jarring and probably raises some questions. And also how, without knowing the backstory, our community might appear less than virtuous, so here’s a very brief introduction which hopefully will clear a few things up.
The woman we’re discussing is a body positive influencer and media personality who has gained fame and wealth by lying, manipulating, exploiting her children for content, plagiarizing BIPOC creators and blaming her BIPOC content editor for it (thereby ruining her career), among other things. Her fraudulent behavior is no different (I’d argue worse) from the likes of Jay Shetty (google him if you don’t know who he is or what he did). She’s the latest in a long line of grifting influencers who are abusing their power, taking advantage of their position and exploiting their followers. The difference is that she’s Canadian. Our laws around social media and advertising aren’t as clear (and where they are she’s disobeyed them), add to that, our mainstream media has protected her from those who’ve tried to expose her grift and silenced/intimidated anyone who’s tried to speak out.
Our Reddit sub was taken down due to reports of copyright infringement, which is unfounded and categorically untrue as no one ever tried to steal her work and pass it off as their own. The mods have made an appeal. While at first glance it may seem like we’re just “shitting on her” the sub has been more devoted to investigation and posting proof of her lies than just bitching for the sake of bitching. The reality is that she’s hurt, manipulated and let down a lot of people. She stole intellectual property and employment, caused mental distress and has repeatedly told lies to boost engagement and profit off her audience, so people are understandably upset that their voices are being silenced.
We’re grateful to have been welcomed so kindly by so many of you, and to those sticking around to watch the drama unfold, we’re glad to have you!

The fact she’s now randomly in NYC? Must be nice to drop all responsibilities at home and jet off to NYC. The fact she just drops her kids like it’s no big deal and goes off for no reason.
You can also hear her say "I'm having so much fun being child free" while at the toystore. As if she isn't child free every day while her ailing mom watches her toddler. But she's in her yes era. She's saying yes to everything, except being a present mother.
I'm not just being a bitch. I have teenagers too and yeah, they want less to do with you. Yeah you can get away with more free time. I do have more time to go to a happy hour or the gym, but she has a toddler!!! How is she ok just seeing her a few hours a week then fucking off to NYC after all the other trips she's been taking?
I’d feel like shit if I saw my mom say “I’m having so much fun being child free”. Like my mom would NEVER feel that way, even in my 30’s she still misses spending as much time with me as she did when I still lived at home. Sarah will make all these posts about spending time with your kids while you can, or about how L is growing up so fast and she doesn’t know where the time went and she’ll have some insane toilet poetry when M goes off to university but she CHOOSES to be away from them anyways. She has missed over half of L’s life so far by dropping her off at NK’s every day, by saying yes to every single thing that comes her way, it’s insane yet she’ll still cry to get sympathy about how life moves so fast and spend time with your kids while you can 🙄

Sarah was out at the thrift store again today and picked up a vintage Victoria Secret sweater just like one she had when she was in high school. She regrets donating it. This woman’s attachment to things from her childhood is really strange to me. Has she mentioned anymore intensive therapy sessions? She should talk about why she needs all these things surrounding her - the childhood toys and clothes - but I doubt she’s continued. She did say it was exhausting!
Okay - when she was in HIGH SCHOOL she owned VS stuff? First off, VS was only available in the US at that time (not that it matters, but I'm in a mood today LOL) Secondly, VS was ELIETE at that time. Like the most expensive place to buy sexy, expensive bras. Why was she shopping there as a teenager? Third, she was heavy into the church at that time and her mother was VERY uppity about being "proper". There is no way they were letting their teenager buy stuff from VS Also, way to support a business that has been accused of SA, harassment, misogyny, bullying and their connection to Jeffrey Epstein "Women supporting women", am I right?

I hate when she posts looking for “tips” on how to decorate something, especially when she clearly already has an idea in mind. We all know she’s just grifting for some company to be like “omg we’d love to help out your renovation” or “we’ll send you some goodies for the room!” She’s so transparent.
