I understand why easy jobs like cashier, grocery bagger, delivery driver, and data entry pay so little. But why do manual labor jobs pay so little?

I’ve worked a little bit of manual labor in the past, and those jobs are HARD... very hard. They are PAINFUL... very painful. Manual labor jobs are basically torture. Isn’t enduring torments worthy of a good wage?
