Hey folks! Instead of missing my niche communities on Reddit, I decided to try my hand at creating a community here on Lemmy.

I've been knitting for around 20 years and have even published a few of my original patterns. The first pattern I ever published got picked up by Knitty, which was quite a big deal for me back then. I published a few patterns afterwards, but my designing muse has been dormant for a while. I have several original designs which I've never published and I'm hoping to put them up on Ravelry one day.

But in general, I just wanted to start a knitting community here in the hopes that others will join and share their work, ask for advice, and just geek out about knitting in general.

If you don't have any current work to post, just introduce yourself. Lets start this community together!

Hey there, I'm also here. I think it was your post over on reddit that gave me the last push to join the fediverse. Thank you for your effort!

PS: Have you also joined the other knitting communities?

Hi! Glad I could inspire you to make the jump! As soon as I get around to it I'll be deleting my reddit account.

I did join the other knitting community, now I see there is even a third! I think its weird having many communities with the same name, so I imagine I might delete this one if its clear that one of the others is most used. For now I'm happy to co tribute and host this little corner of the Fediverse :)

Hi! I'm very new to the fediverse, first thing I did was trying to understand which instances had a knitting community. Glad to have found this!

I'm a very slow knitter, so unfortunately won't have too much to share, but I'm looking forward in participating nonetheless :)

I've been commenting in other magazines about having lost a sense of connection with a wide array of knitters and crocheters since the migration, and it dawned on me that the current communities for the fiber arts are all very active in the microblog part of the Fediverse and none of that content is coming to my attention because kbin's home page only displays threads.

Are you having a similar experience?

To be honest I haven't been looking around that much. I list my muse after my last large piece, so I'm off my game at the moment :)
