So my laptop died recently. Black screen. No post. Just constant power cycle. After a bit of troubleshooting, turns out the rams are the culprit. Both of my timetic 1600Mhz ddr3l died at the same time. Tried single channel, both sticks. Both dead. Swapped out the dead rams and put my old one back in and now the laptop works.

However I'm feeling a bit sus-ed out. It is HIGHLY unlikely for both rams to be defective from the factory. They both worked fine without any hint of impending failure for the whole month I got them.

I have a surge protector protecting my power bar.

So it is most likely something within the laptop killed my rams. I just don't know what it is. And it is a matter of time before it happens to my current ram too. What could it be?

For context. Laptop is 8 years old. So is the accessories.
