I created this community 3 years ago, expecting more users. Of course, it was the birth of lemmy, with no real niche communities i'm happy with the reddit exodus : i hope more users will join. If you want this community to grow, don't forget not to promote directly gears : no affiliate links, just your honest opinion about gears. By the way, i'm french, my english level is as low as my budget to buy ultralight gears 😬

God I miss hiking. One of my dreams is to go the Appalachian trail or to hike across Europe. But I cannot forsee myself taking such an extended time off from work. :( day / weekend only trips for me until I win the lottery

What’s stopping you from doing a medium-length hike over Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday?

That’s what I mean by “day / weekend only trips” for me.

But also because I live in Florida and hiking here is walking through the woods and getting eviscerated by mosquitos
