I used MAL through the MyAniList app (not to be confused with MAL) but switched to AniList during the api outage in 2018. Nowadays I mainly track manga and anime automatically through tachiyomiJ2K and aniyomi respectively so I don't interact directly with AniList much, apart from browsing upcoming anime and discovering other series from writers, seiyuus, mangakas etc.

I use AniList. I also have automatic tracking in Tachiyomi and on my Jellyfin server through a plugin. There's also a browser addon for that called MAL-Sync, which I used before. Without automatic tracking I'd be too lazy or forget to update my progress.

started using anilist during that time MAL went down in 2018; liked the sleek interface, the choice in rating systems, the GraphQL API... i transfered my data over and never looked back.

Using MAL because I don't have any reason to change. Also like the older aesthetics and the ability to edit the CSS directly.

I've been using MAL, but it's just until I find a good replacement. And by "good" I mean that data is stored locally, like the one from All Mangas Reader.

I use anime-planet, just because it was the first thing I found back in the day and I'm not switching now. The scoring systems is a bit limited, using the five stars (essentially just 1-10). I do like the simple design, makes it very clear where everything is, and your profile has a nice big overview of how much of your life you have wasted :D

I use a FOSS alternative to MAL, kitsu.io

I moved to Anilist when MAL went down for several months a few years ago. I never looked back, its nice there.

If you use any other tracking software, I would love to hear about it.

I switched from MAL to AniList a while back. I think it was back during the API outage, got tired of not having apps for tracking and wanted something with a more modern interface.

AniList is great, though I will say the more modern UI also made the page loading a bit more sluggish.

I've tried both, but abandoned MAL. Anilist has a much cleaner ui, and if you're a manga reader, a much fuller database of series.

I use both, if MAL is down there is always Anilist to keep my episodes tracked.

IDK, I just have MAL up, but I don't "track" anime really. I use MAL to try and get some idea what a show is about. And I read a few of the reviews.

I use MyAnimeList, but I'm actually going to attempt to write my own soon enough using Laravel and Vue. I was planning on starting this week, but I've been completely knocked out with a viral infection, so I dunno when I will start on it, but I do plan on working on it at some point even though I seem to keep delaying it it's still something I really want lol.

Was using MAL for the longest time until it went down for like a few days. That caused me to look for others and I found Anilist. I have been using it ever since I found out you can customize your rating system.

I moved my account from MAL to Kitsu.io a while back, and I quite like it. More flexible reviews, better UI — plus it’s open-source.

Anilist plus taiga. Moved from mal do to it going down for like 2 weeks a couple years back. I can't remember why it went down but I fully converted to anilist because of it.

I primary used MAL for tracking, because people recommend this site for tracking all anime and anime episodes.

Anilist with al-chan android app. It's lightweight and offers a enough information. I do miss MAL and Anyme X for seeing the OP/ED info though. (I stand corrected OP/ED was added recently in Anilist/al-chan)

I use AniList, Anime-Planet, LiveChart, AniDB, and MyAnimeList

Reasons I use each:

AniList gives good stats and breakdowns of what genres, etc, you tend to prefer in a clean, user friendly format

Anime-Planet gives me generally good recommendations, based on anime I want to see something like, or my overall library preferences

LiveChart's just good at giving me what I'm looking forward to in a good digestible feed. Sometimes I scroll through past seasons to see what I may have missed, this is why I maintain a list there

AniDB gives incredibly detailed analytics, has a cool timeline of all your anime watching history. I think this is just really satisfying to look at

MyAnimeList honestly doesn't really have much I care about, just people tend to get squirmish if I link them anything else, so it's the easiest list to send to people without having to explain why I don't use MAL

Anilist for sure, really nice UX imho. Mal feels very dated, and I won't even begin with AniDB.

I use both Anime-Planet and MAL.

I joined Anime-Planet one time MAL had an outage, I think. Both sites have their advantages. A-P has a very rich database of tags, for both anime and characters, and also has a personal feed history that stretches back way longer than MAL's does. On the other hand, MAL includes metadata fields for when I started/finished watching something, and has some third-party sites that integrate with it, such as anime.plus, which I use to see stats on how much I've watched and when and how I've rated things.

So, for now, I just use both at the same time.

I once tried Kitsu, back when it was called Hummingbird, but I wasn't very satisfied with it. Haven't ever tried AniList or AniDB.

Anilist for automatically syncs my Plex server and better app with slidebar rating but I like MAL more for community, anilist is just tracker.

Neither, AniDB.

Set up is a pain though, terrible defaults.
