I had been looking at recipe managers anyway, since too many online recipes are unusable from ads and lengthy chats, or not posted in a permanent spot you can hyperlink. I tried printing to file but that only worked half the time. Traeger recipes may not have had all that crap, but we’re still limited by the site.
Paprika
I ended up buying Paprika App for iPhone/iPad (just a customer. No connection, no profit). I see a lot of significant pluses and a few less significant minuses, so overall great so far
PROs
- It had no problem importing from Traeger recipes as well as every other online recipe I tried. Import from web site is fantastic!
- Paprika lets you create convenient meal plans and a combined shopping list.
- It claims the feature of keeping your screen active when following a recipe but I haven’t tried that yet.
- While You do still have to coordinate timing and steps yourself, it’s a LOT more convenient clicking between multiple recipes
CONs
- can’t assign recipes, like for a family event where everyone is responsible for something
- doesn’t understand ingredient groups. For example the Traeger Breakfast Burrito recipe has ingredients for hot sauce and the burrito, but on import Paprika decided a frozen burrito was an ingredient
- doesn’t have a way to import all those recipes I printed to file. There’s an FAQ that says just copy-paste but you have to do it per field. Maybe that’s ok on a PC screen where you can put windows by side to copy back and forth but not on a phone
