Would it be possible to implement a custom theme for Lemmy.world? There is a ton of wasted screen space and I prefer something a little more compact. I wouldn't mind creating a new css file, but I don't want to waste my time if it wouldn't be implemented.

If the layout of lemmy-ui can be improved, why do it only here on lemmy.world? Why not make a PR to https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui so all instances benefit?

With how fast lemmy is improving, I'd be concerned about locking lemmy.world into a custom theme and then having the default theme get massive improvements like https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ui/issues/984 that we're dependent on a single community member to backport to our theme or something. Easy/fast upgrades are pretty valuable for the foreseeable future while improvements are arriving at a rapid clip.

Perfect, thanks for the suggestion!

I'm not sure I can upload themes somewhere. I can find out. I am not comfortable changing any code of Lemmy for lemmy.world, mostly because I use docker to run this and want to be able to upgrade by just pulling the latest image, without worrying something might break. As @[email protected] suggests, you could add stuff to the lemmy-ui project so it gets here too.
