Played it early on and it had a lot of issues. Top of which was the pay2win. And janky setup where whoever kills zapdos wins the game, none of the prior match matters at all, and its basically a coin flip which attack gets the killing blow

They briefly fixed this with Rayquaza where it just gave you a shield instead of insta-score, then deliberately made it worse by lowering Rayquaza's HP and upping the shield and giving a faster score speed so Rayquaza became a worse Zapdos if you can believe that. They also added free item maximizers, about 3 of them. So very briefly, it wasn't pay to win if you made good choices on what items to max. But they periodically release broken 'mons that are pay to buy for about a week, so it periodically becomes pay to win again.
That said, a huge number of times I lost games because my team mates did not understand when __not__to murder Zapdos/Ray, when we were far ahead. If you play right and protect it until you've completely wiped out the enemy team, you can then rip it in about 5 seconds and you can see if the enemy respawn timer will come up in that time. The team mate stupidity in this game is immense.
It's a MOBA so toxicity is inevitable. But it's fun to play casually sometimes.
