I'm not sure if it's related but I know a lot of Lemmy instances are getting overloaded because of the Reddit blackout. I know that the main instance was having federation problems because the servers kept crashing from the influx of users.

Same thing happens with me with a home instance of lemmy.world.
There might be issues with the remote instance. Try again in a couple hours, maybe?
it's been happening for 3 days now unfortunately, might move to another instance if it keeps happening
