What would you love to see in a future version of Apple Maps?

For me it's got to be an option for always have the map be north-up when doing turn by turn directions.

The ability to have the directions appear on the Apple Watch only when I chose walking directions. It's pretty annoying when driving as I have a bigger screen showing me but I don't want to disable it altogether.

You can disable it for when you are connected to CarPlay. But I suppose you’re not?

No way?! I just had a quick look but can't find it, where's that option?

Watch app -> maps. There turn off Driving with CarPlay

Well well, I never noticed that. Cheers man.

No problem. You can also set it here exactly as you want, for walks only

Well now I want to re-evaluate my suggestion. I want that setting in either Maps settings, or on my watch in settings, not the Watch app in settings haha. Too many places.

Is it still integrated with Yelp? If so, that needs to go away asap.

It sadly is but primarily in the U.S. in the rest of the world, the data comes from lots of other places. Still partially from yelp but it’s way less common here

I hate tapping on a photo and it opens the App Store for Yelp.

Immediate rage quit and I switch to Google Maps.

When searching for POIs (like gas) while on route, the location list should be number-coded to the map so I can see where one is without needing to tap on it and wait for the map to zoom in. Android Auto shows POIs like this and it’s easier to decipher

When you start a route from point A to point B, it should automatically download offline directions for two more routes:

  • Point B back to point A
  • Point B to home (or maybe the nearest city if you're a certain distance away from home)

Sometimes your destination doesn't have great (or any) phone signal, so having these "emergency" directions available without having to pre-plan offline maps would be very nice.

Written reviews, open issue reporting also while in nav (like submit on the go that a speed limit is wrong), actual location for speed traps, auto download map route.

GPS track import/export.

I want to be able to disable the environment zone warnings.

I really wish the detailed city experience worked with walking directions. I mean it’s great when driving but if anything it would be more useful with walking directions! I really don’t get why they haven’t made that a thing lol

Also, on the less likely side of things, I think a new “Scenic route” option would be awesome! When you’re going on a long trip that you’ve taken tons of time, sometimes, taking a more scenic route is nice. It would be so cool if maps could specifically route you around lakes and rivers and mountains ranges etc

Agreed. I can do mental rotation, so going downward in Maps on my phone can mean going North. And changing direction and zooming inn/out makes me sea sick.

Request 2. Zooming in should make the name of the road that you can quite read, BIGGER. This would help with navigation.

Voice directions in another language than Siri’s.

I speak English to Siri, but because I live in Sweden, Apple Maps butchers street and place names as a result because it uses the same voice.
