Ahoy hoy!

For 4/20 I got a great deal on an arizer XQ2 an was excited to try it out but after 5 sessions I feel like I'm doin somthin wrong as Im getting a lil vapor an some taste but thas about it. Last 2 bowls I used the larger bowl filled at half way, because it's closer to the heat, I'm preheatin for 5-20 minutes, and am startin at 450f, an still is not givin much. I'm not expectin big ol vape juice clouds, but I get more out of my 501 cartridges an the high is not on the same level, any suggestions?

Personally I keep it at 160-175C (320-347F) because I don't want to be even close to combustion.

Are you running the fan during pre-heat? (I run it on lowest)
After that, I also let the material pre-heat (no fan, capped) as well for at least 5mins. (Also some stuff like inital pulls of air at start of pre-heat and stirring after pre-heat, but I have no idea if that does much)

From what I've heard (and seen a few times), heating to a higher temp and then stepping it down might give you more clouds. But I assume that is either just an effect similar to condensation and/or maybe slightly more extraction due to better heat soak.

For reference I just have an EQ with nothing special, and my material was free (not the best/freshest, though I assume that's more about weak flavor or quick-to-turn-harsh more than it is potency itself) and also I just rip a bit by hand instead of pre-grind (I keep the AVB, doesn't taste bad IMO because lower temp).

Ok so full disclosure I don't own one but I watched a quick video on how it works to try to help. I do own lots of other dry herb vapes.

Are you using the fan? If not how fast are you hitting it? Is this your first vape? There is a little bit of a learning curve if it's your first. Low and slow, by that I mean your pull should be on the lighter slide like a long drag on J instead of a heavy bong rip, and try to pull like that for a long time. People describe it as drinking a milkshake.

Are you packing the cloud bowl tight or loose? You may need more bud possibly. The way you pack and effect your efficiency at extraction, on this one it's something I typically have to get a personal feel for. Also stirring between hits makes a big difference, you just use a stretched out paper clip and get everything mixed up. I would also turn the temp down to 410 to hit it like this. iirc 450f is the point of combustion for plant matter, so you may accidentally combust.

Preheating for 5 mins seems like a little long to me, 20 mins seems really long you may be extracting it before you get to hit it. Maybe try like a 3min preheat? Again I don't own one so I could be dead wrong on this one.

The high won't be the same but it should be on a similar level, I can't describe it better than that unfortunately but I think you'll know what I'm talking about when you hit it. Dry herb vapes definitely take some tinkering and experimentation, if you are new to them. You'll get rewarded with a clean taste, cleaner high, and your lungs will thank you. That's all compared to traditional combustion of course.

That's everything I can think of, I hope some of it was helpful!

Thanks for the detailed reply!

Not using the fan currently and drawing pretty slow... I think, I've got a screen in the whip that I noticed gets full of grounds from time to time. This is the first I owned, I used to borrow a lil pencle sharpener shaped desktop before and was able to use it pretty nicely.

It's packed pretty loose, I was using the cloud side since it's closer to the heat, though it's the bigger chamber an I'm maybe half fillin it, though I have been stirrin.

As for preheatin, I may have misunderstood the process, I've been leavin it on to heat the actual bowl for 5-20 then puttin the ground in and hittin it, I guess it should sit in the bowl for a bit, but not too long, and that makes sense with the heat. I've been up to that much with the last bowl, but I was tryin at 400-20 originally.
