Vaporents

Expats from Reddit's largest community focusing on cannabis flower vaporizers.

  1. Be chill, this is a cannabis forum after all.
  2. Post links, pics, vids talking about where your fav vape/bong/glass/pipe was from.
  3. Don’t sell anything consumable on here. No sales of herb, extract, carts, pens, edibles, drinks, tintcures, anything that’s a consumable product.
  4. DEVICES and ACCESSORIES like a Mighty, Tinymight, some custom glass for a Carta or PuffCo Peak, 510 Mods, log vapes, DIY/One off vapes/pipes/bags/stems/dab tools/Etsy type shit that Etsy bans. That stuff is fine. AT YOUR OWN RISK. And that needs it’s own channel/community(communities) if people are interested in an exchange.
  5. Provide citations/sources for posts/comments where needed.
  6. Openly discuss safety of equipment/devices and cannabis products.
  7. Be mindful of what you post on here. The point is to have the whole server indexed by Google and other search providers and keep the space alive/history documented/growing in the future. (AKA Share Knowledge / Share the vibes. / Don’t get me arrested plz. )

MODERATORS

In an ideal world

Community members volunteer to moderate whatever, I was going to do a form type thing with LimeSurvey because it's a pretty good tool for an application process. That might be excessive tho, anyone can start a community and if one exists from the bot that was post scraping; make a post/comment in it that you want it and poof we'll get it done.

I want to maintain the infrastructure/script/automate, vape herbs, do dabs, wikifi Wiki things, and figured I'd post vape videos w/the GoPro 11 I picked up for eBike shit for fun too.

*actual eBike stuff I'm keeping separate. However, I am starting what will be a ~400 mile trip on the OTET in 30 days; and the farthest the bike i'm taking has been in a single ride so far was ~30 miles. I will be posting videos of me getting high along the way in here with that DeWalt rig and whatever else I stash in my cargo bike bags.

Authentik helps setup admin delegation with LDAP/SSO, so if someone wants to jump into some backend infra lmk and we'll setup something.

This place is for the community. The more people that help maintain this garden for the general good and the less influence I have over the "social" aspect of this, the better IMO.

My minimal guidelines would be

  1. Be chill, this is a cannabis forum after all.
  2. Post links, pics, vids talking about where your fav vape/bong/glass/pipe was from.
  3. Don't sell anything consumable on here. No sales of herb, extract, carts, pens, edibles, drinks, tintcures, anything that's a consumable product.
And that needs it's own channel/community(communities) if people are interested in an exchange.
Don't get me arrested plz. )

I was messing with configuring the OAuth plugin for Discourse to open that up before doing redarc or the database server work for the Vaporents archives. The postgresql w/Lemmy and other dockers needs pointed outside of their containers too and it made sense to do as much of that DB work at one time as possible.

In the meantime (until there's moderators) lol, if there's an issue w/something email [email protected] or send myself or one of the couple mods we do have ( @[email protected], @Loki, and @[email protected] ) so far a DM here (or on another subdomain) and we'll help out.

Yeah I can't dedicate enough time to be a full time mod, but I'll be sure to report stuff which might need a mod's review - I assume that "create report" button is the proper method to report to mods, correct?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yep, just did a test report on your comment ;-) Thanks @[email protected] PS love your work

[–] Delta3DStudios 3 points 1 year ago

Thx! Purely a labor of love, happy to hear it :-)

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yep! Haven't tried it but we'll found out.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Yeah that's how it works. Reports will pop up as notifications and you can remove the post or ban the user. When you ban someone, you also have the option to remove all their content.

You can also purge users entirely if necessary, but hopefully you won't have to worry about that just yet.

If I understand correctly I can try to sell my Zion vape here and possibly some glass?

[Redacted]

Can I give away consumables in a legal way here as well?

Sorry to hear about the CHS :(

Totally cool w/selling the zion gear here and glass as long as it's clean and do one of those username/date pics w/it like EntExchange and stuff do. Always suggest using PayPal Goods and Services for buyer protection, can't mention what it is tho cause things are grey w/that.... TL;DR everything is risky, it's something we accept after doing as much due diligence as possible. So, just be aware/careful/keep exceptions aligned with the above and you might get scammed like any other place items are sold/traded secondhand.

For the giving away consumables in a legal way... I'd want to stay on the side of caution and say no because Ohio sucks and I'm not confident w/my potential personal liability for that taking place in a sanctioned/open way on communities my hardware hosts. If someone came at the site for selling a used mighty or RBT zion that was clean/above board/etc... I'd be willing to try to fight the state on that one (would prob get expensive and I'd do my best, would end w/a gofund me and a fight at least lmao). I registered an LCC in Ohio to deal with the banking/taxes/not in my bank account related to hosting the server (plus other things), and most importantly keep shit away from my Ex wife..... Don't want that getting swooped up in a DEA raid over an 8th of shrooms or herb ;-)

With even giving away consumables "legally", like a Washington DC resident posting something along those lines on this hardware.... Personally I'd LOVE to, but unfortunately I'm not lookin to be low-key Heisenberg at this stage of my life & It would complicate other things in my life quite a bit IF there was an issue in the substance space.

Thank you. [Redacted]

I totally understand not wanting to be arrested or held liable over it. I would also error on the side of caution if I was hosting this instance.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Also, thank you for taking the time to ask for clarification on those two things btw.

It's appreciated :-)

Whoops, a lot of the communities were "locked" when the bot made them.

Unlocked all of them (I think), and changed the names based on !@[email protected]'s feedback w/this one.

kinda considering the bot again for some subreddits that aren't cannabis related just cause I followed those and am trying to stay off of Reddit mostly/not install that app....

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

I think you're looking for lemmit.online. He's scraping various subreddits and posting them to Lemmy. All you have to do is request your favorites here, if you can't already find it there.

Or actually, that link will take you to the lemmit.online instance so you won't be able to subscribe and comment.

[email protected]

The second link should pull the community up on your home server, if I'm doing this right.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

That's the same bot I was running :-) Easier to use their CPU cycles to scrape though hehe, good call.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (3 children)

I can help too. Also I'd recommend losing the subtitle in the community name so it just reads [email protected]

Without the exclamation point though, I just wanted to make the link work bc otherwise it thinks it's an email address.

I like the guidelines, nice work on those.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Hellll yeah! Greatly appreciate the offer to help and suggestion w/the community name. I'll get that updated.

You've been knighted moderator POOF

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Ooof you can prob change the title, i'd have to log into the bot account. (can do that in a bit, have to get ready for a work trip monday)

Weird conflict/bug I can't make this one an admin and do some things but it's also the super user.... idfk.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Okay. Looks like it didn't register on my end, my mod powers have not appeared 😅

Might take a sec I guess. No worries tho

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

FWIW you are showing with Mod flair now 👍

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It's even longer now! I was thinking just vaporents

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

BAH lmao shit.

I think I'm misunderstanding what you mean (maybe i'm high)

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (3 children)

Remove everything after the S in vaporents. 🤣

I'm high af too. But I think the server name is added on for people from other servers, but because you're on this server you don't see it?

Edit: also I accidentally drew on this screenshot, you don't have something on your screen

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Hang on, it says "@lemmy.beyondcombusion.net" twice?? Man I must also have been too high to ever notice that. TIL

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

lmaoooo this is like some benny hill shit rn.

Cracking tf up

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

Nah it was always Vaporents - Vaping with Cannabis @lemmy.beyondcombustion.net. Then when PHJ went to change it he made the double lemmy.beyondcombustion.net at first lol

I think a lot of times it doesnt display the @lemmy.beyondcombustion.net for accounts that were created on this server. Like you're just going to the local vaporents community, no need to specify the server. But for people from other servers, we always see the second part displayed so we know we are on another instance.

That's how it works for names at least, like when I'm on SJW I just see my fellow users by their name, but when we see each other on other servers it's [email protected]. Idk

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think it's mostly just shown my username (on this instance). but that could be weird too being a site admin

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

This is how it looks from my end.

It'll always show A from your view, but other people will only see the A if they are from your server, because otherwise you're not their admin. Likewise, people from your server won't see the @lemmy.beyondcombustion.net, but everybody else will.

Also my moderator status still hasn't updated on my side. Might take another 24 hours to federate/update I suppose, although I haven't had this issue before.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Cool looks like it's visually fixed :-)

I think there might be some weirdness with the nginx proxy that's in front of the site, I'll see if I can figure that out today. Since that last update it's been a bit off. Websockets were removed and at least one additional endpoint was added "/inbox". The instance on this server ended up being behind a dual nginx reverse proxy by the time I got federation going, so it's a bit.... tricky when changes like that happen.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

Lol I have no idea what most of that means. But I appreciate your hard work.

You can always ask TheDude if you want some advice, he seems pretty good at this stuff.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

omg holy shit lmaoo
