They claim to be 127 years old. But have been a big part of the craft beer scene since the 70's.

It is indeed sad. They had a good brewery tour and taproom, not to mention a unique and delicious flagship beer. This article also mentions some missteps by Sapporo when they took over. Foodrepublic article
