I contribute far more now. I already have more posts on Lemmy in nine months than I did in all of the 10-ish years I was on Reddit. My rate of commenting is about the same.

I've also changed the way I get my news; I went retro and use RSS feeds now. I do fear there's a risk of over-curation with a minimum of sources leading to narrow viewpoints. Even Reddit's news bubble was more expansive than what I've got coming in. But my feeds and Lemmy's bubble are what I've got for now.

I always thought Linux was for nerds, now I know it's for Nuclear turbo nerds.

Communists and vegans are trying to shove their ideology everywhere. But the tankies outclass them in being the most obnoxious by far.

.world blocking piracy made me a radical piracy and privacy advocate. It also showed mods are the same power hungry kids with a god complex like the ones in the other site.

I was ready for a fediverse reddit since i had been on mastodon since 2019. The threads here just work better for me than the microblogging style. I used mastodon sometimes and reddit every day. Now i use lemmy every day, mastodon sometimes, and reddit only when i absolutely must.

I now use my porn account to engage with folks on my niche subs and race threads.

I'm paranoid that everybody who replies to my comments might be a bot. That's got nothing to do with Lemmy, specifically, just a result of emerging technology.

If you were to play with them for awhile that would likely change. They have patterns and very real limits, especially with the kinds anyone will use with a bot. A half decent LLM would cost a fortune to run just to troll people. Like I can spot a bot quickly just based on the way natural language occurs and content/conceptual density. Like with this post, and how I am quickly stepping through layers of complexity with density but using poor natural language grammar; no bot can do this kind of thing in practice, presently. They don't have the attention capacity to juggle this kind of information at the same time. That is an easy way to spot that I am not a bot.

I am happier, and better able to analyze situations with a clearer mind.

it's weird not to have strangers insisting that they can base their arguments on hallucinations that they've had.
