You may or may not have stumbled across my comment on a post from a few days ago, mentioning how I fake banned my account on WhatsApp (attached below) when in reality I just deleted it.

Well, it worked like a charm. I got my close friends and my significant other to switch to Signal, I told them we have no choice since I got banned and won't get my account back, and told them that Signal was developed by the same people who once worked at WhatsApp before Facebook bought them. And it worked.

Just for your information, I am a zoomer in the US, the group which is probably the hardest to do this with, yet I did it (although granted we all used Whatsapp before which is also not very common in the US especially among zoomers who love Snapchat and Instagram DMs)

I don't think lying to your SO and friends are a good way to accomplish anything.

So much lying instead of just saying "I won't be using WhatsApp because I don't want tech giants to have my data, if you want to reach me, use Signal". Don't be afraid to stand behind your opinions!

Is there an UnethicalLifeProTips community on lemmy yet?

Geez your all easily offended. Sure lying isn't a super way of going about getting what you want. And I sure hope OP doesn't do this in other facets of his life. But gosh tone it down a notch will ya?

Since you did it via manipulation and intent for deception, you show yourself to be a coward, and pretentious at that. You're not someone of principal, but rather too weak intellectually to sway someone by percise and thorough explanation.

Or she/he's young and made a dumb decision.

Your post on the other hand shows that you are rash, judgemental and quickly offended. You are too emotional to rationally understand humans and their ability to make mistakes.

That's meant as satire, but probably not a good idea to insult strangers we don't know.

Feel better now? This is not how you present your opinion. Hopefully this is just the anonymity of the internet that somehow compells you to behave thay way, otherwise I'm sorry for the people that know you personally.

Calm your tits my guy. I could go on and on to my family about privacy and all of that, but they don't give a shit. Now, if I were to tell them that I was banned from Messenger, they would actually switch to Signal. Some people don't really have any other option.

How did you become a pretentious reject? It's implied by your grandious idiom.

i deleted my whatsapp account and because of that my parents and my friends couldn't contact me, my parents asked me to install whatsapp again and i took my parent's phone and installed signal on their phone to contact me. 😂

Usually I have success in mixed iPhone/Android groups where I mention that if we all used Signal the group chats won't suck.

I tend to be the photographer so when I take a good pic and someone asks for it I say "are you Signal? I want to send you the photo without it being compressed"

Didn't they ask why you got banned? What did you do, what did you dooooo?

Now show me how to get them off standard SMS...

I wonder how anything that requires your phone number can be considered private at all? And why people don't widely use Matrix?..
