You know I didn't like that one either when I saw it and never gave it another shot. Maybe I'll make some time to try again.
It's actually a masterpiece of story telling... on first watch I thought it boring. On second watch several years later my mind was blown.
My favorite book series! There are 21 of them. The audio books are great as well.
I’ve been thinking about picking those up. Added to the list!
Hot Fuzz. I didn't get the humor at all the first time. Now it's my favorite movie of all time and I've seen it, no joke probably around 100 times. The foreshadowing and callbacks in it are just second to none and it still makes me laugh my ass off.
After learning to appreciate Rian Johnson's humour and approach to genre, I can now say, I actually kinda like The Last Jedi.
The Matrix Reloaded, one of the biggest turnarounds for my personal taste in movies
I can see that being a good candidate. I'll put it on the list and see if it can jump up a notch on another viewing.
I think it happened because I dropped some of my own pretentiousness, to be honest. I was young, had lots of fun with the first movie, but always under the pretense of it being "philosophical", and then the sequels turned the ridiculousness to 11 — but it's not like the first one was tame, in retrospect. I rewatched all of them after the fourth movie came out and now I really enjoy and respect the second one. The Wachowskis didn't play it safe, wore their hearts on their sleeves even harder, shot some badass and equally silly action scenes, and made a genuine story about love that I found really endearing
I don't think I've ever had the experience of going from hate to favourite.
But I disliked Citizen Kane on first viewing (I was too young) and now I like it a lot and can see its merits.
The first time I watched As Above So Below, I hated it. I thought it was cliche and boring and predictable. But it stayed somewhere in my brain for some reason. I watched it again a couple of months later because I couldn't stop thinking about it and I fell in love with it. Its now one of my favorite horror movies and I've seen it 5+ times.
I will check this one out. I love a brain bug.
You definitely should! I also recommend this video as it's the one that made it check it out a second time https://youtu.be/8PsZ46HvtKw
