An admin account was hacked and they fucked with the website. They've been removed as an admin now and I assume they are working on restoring lemmy.world as we speak. I expect an official statement sometime tonight or tomorrow.

I was on my laptop browsing through firefox...is there a linux based app you can recommend so I don't have to use firefox?
I'm on mobile so don't see it (using Liftoff) but yes I get the same thing as you on PC using Firefox. Use the mobile for now till it goes away, and use an adblocker which will block the redirects (I'm using uBlock Origin)
Something very weird is going on.
