I’m conflicted about Uber. They’re a shit company, and I don’t want them to succeed, but I want the other cab companies to up their game. Like a lot.

Yeah, I feel that. Uber is notoriously kind of shit and we all know the existing cab companies are total shit. It's kind of hard to root for either of them. I am glad that the taxis have lost their monopoly now though, so I guess the hope is that Uber brings in enough competition so that the taxis have to actually try.
Yeah, I feel like people's enthusiasm for Uber is based purely on how bad our existing cab companies are rather than any high expectations for the former. And really, the cabbies don't have a leg to stand on given how mediocre their service is here. Hopefully the competition pressures them to improve.
I've heard nothing but bad things about pay for drivers in other cities. After vehicle costs, I wonder if it's even above minimum wage here. Anyone have any details?
