I heard of it, but then I wasn’t running Windows daily by it finally landing outside of Insiders builds. My interest lowered by quite a bit when they announced they’d use the Amazon store lol. Guess they just couldn’t get (wouldnt pay for?) Google Play certification for all those virtual devices lol

So if this is going away, does anyone know any alternatives that aren't sketchy af (BlueStacks etc are riddled with ads)? Maybe a way to get waydroid working over wsl?

I'm sure there's a way, but you'll need to configure wsl to use Wayland as well as check that the Linux kernel used has the proper modules.

I know this is a couple months old, but damn, I'm ultra disappointed in this. Feels like a big thing to take out. Will we still be able to use WSL after support ends? Because this was super useful. It is amazing being able to cast YouTube on my PC using the SmartTubeNext app. Not to mention just in general there's a few apps I use that simply make copy/pasting from phone apps easy, especially if it's just right there on the same system. There's quite a few apps that are strictly phone apps only as well. Kinda sad that most people assumed you could only install stuff via Amazon appstore instead of just sideloading whatever apps you wanted.

One of the few neat and unique things first advertised about Win 11 was the fact you could run android apps on it, and now I can't help but feel like I'm getting less now. How many other "cool new features" that I take for granted will get removed down the line at the drop of a hat?
