This probably is the most original episode yet, with most of the storyline not directly taken out of the animated series. Wasn't bad imo!

A clear distinction from the animated series is now clear: The Netflix show has a more global POV, we don't get to explore everything from the Gaang's POV. Seeing opposition to the government within the Fire Nation definitely is interesting, and that introduction to Azula... was something else. Great acting by Lizzie Yu.

Also, jet has the piece of straw!

The sibling fight between Katara and Sokka was done really well, giving Kiawentiio more of a chance to shine. I've said it before, the more calm and serious scenes don't seem to suit her, she's much better in the angry and funny ones.

The non-bending fight between Zuko and Aang is an interesting choice. I feel like the director of this episode's work history might have helped with shooting this scene, felt really smooth.

What I didn't like: 1. That part of them stepping out of Theo's house, Aang monologueing and then them being back inside. Not good writing there. 2. The trauma talk between Katara and Jet seemed too soon after meeting, but hey. 3. Why would the freedom fighter trying to explode the Mechanist and Bumi only have one single burning arrow?
