Apollo was the shit and it was the only way to browse that site for me. Havnt gone back since June 30th. Just discovered this whole fediverse thing today. Loving it. (I'm 50. It's amazing I even managed to find this place)

You’ve probably heard this mentioned loads, but if you like Apollo, visit wefwef.app. Wefwef is an alternate Lemmy UI that is essentially an Apollo clone for Lemmy.

I also didn’t know about that, because I simply used Reddit since then and had not made a deep dive into Lemmy yet. Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the tip... Had not heard of wefwef. Just submitted application.

And Memmy too (though it’s brand new so it’s got a few bugs, and the icons are tiny). But it could really use that tab apollo had that only showed you posts from subscribed communities so you can more easily avoid the cringe communities like c/antiwork without having to manually go and block each one yourself (but at least lemmy has a recommendation blacklist unlike post-API-purge r🤮ddit).

Same, I left shortly before it closed. Now I only occasionally make posts inviting the few subs I did like to their new clones on lemmy, if any. (Using the browser version of course.)

We're glad to have you here, friend. Here's to building our own better tomorrow. Cheers mate 🍻

it sucks the way things went down. thanks for all the hardwork on the app. i was a rif user to be honest but still i appreciate the work that went into the app.

I am not its developer, his skills are beyond my simple understanding. This is a screenie of my last words on reddit in response to the apollo dev’s goodbye post (not counting the occasional Lemmy ad)

If I forgot to sign out of RiF before uninstalling is that an issue for the developer?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 2 years ago (1 children)

It shouldn’t be. AFAIK most of the devs who are closing their apps will have deleted their API keys on the Reddit Dev platform.

No, TalkLittle (the RIF dev) revoked his API key already, so you can't even do anything logged in, anyway. Right now the app is falling back to a scraping method to get the front page data, but it won't let you log in or interact with anything right now. It's basically in read-only mode now.

I deleted my account before uninstalling RiF 😂
