Not sure if it’s going to be your solution, but I asked my doctor for a Trazadone prescription. It’s not actually a sleeping med. it was an antidepressant that just made you really drowsy. Aside from that try your very best to get some exercise and try to cut back on any alcohol. Melatonin might also be worth looking into.

Only thing I find helps is audio books where I am very familiar with the material. Something I've heard / read so many times I don't have to pay much attention.

It's enough to keep my mind from racing, but not enough to distract me. I find a 30 minute timer works best.

I just don't try to sleep until i am very tired nowadays because the time apent trying to sleep is just wasted.
