I use Arch (btw) and wanted to join a more niche instance. Makes the home feed more interesting to follow.
Thanks for setting this up!

Arch user + Reddit refugee, I could only join this instance once I saw it
Reddit refugee. Picked the server because I use Arch btw. Looks like a good homebase.
I had the exact same thought process.
Gotta say I love lemmy so far.
I use Manjaro but I used to use arch previously.
I found the instance because someone sent it to me, since I was looking for a joining place on lemmy it seemed appropriate since I'm a long time user of Linux and free software, and a enthusiast for this kind of tech.
Same as the others, I wanted to jump ship from reddit and Lemmy's main server was overloaded; found it funny cause it's true.
I first saw this instance by another user commenting on a post. I hopped on over because I daily drive arch (btw) and I wanted to offload from one of the popular lemmy instances.
Server is running Ubuntu cli
Gaming rig (console style by the TV) running Arch (ChimeraOS) SteamOS ui and Gnome
Laptop running Arch (Garuda KDE Dr460nized)
I was looking for a chill server for anyone, no preppy judgy server.
Glad to see I'm not the only one sticking with Ubuntu for a server lol! I live in the edge with my devices but my wife uses Nextcloud for work and I do backups before every update.
I signed up to lemmy.ml, they accepted me but it wouldn't open. As an Arch Linux user I was looking for an alternative. :)
Like most, I left Reddit because of the shit going on with 3rd party apps. The way Spez treated Apollo's dev in particular really ticked me off.
I'm not new to fedi, I've been on the whole microblogging part (i.e. Mastodon, Pleroma, Misskey) for a good while now. I've heard of Lemmy before but never thought to use it until recently. I used Kbin before but I think I like Lemmy slightly better, though I had technical issues with Lemmy.world so I decided to go ahead and join this one instead.
EDIT: saw the other question, does endeavourOS count
I will count it. Welcome :)
Found you at https://join-lemmy.org/instances, thought the server address said 'I search linux' at first glance, and it made me ask if I too also search linux, and I said to myself, yes! Yes, all my searches are in Linux. Then I signed up and couldnt find the server at isearchlinux.fyi. I'm just going to blame it on puffing too much expat wildfire smoke. So Canada is the reason why I signed up. I don't use Arch at this time. But I believe in Arch.
Reddit refugee here. I found this instance from this GitHub page, as I was looking for an instance that wasn't completely blocking or blocked by any other instance. I was scrolling through that table and this is one of the first instances that pops up. I looked over at the name and immediately knew this was going to be my new home.
Blocked instances ≤ 3.
PS. Not an Arch user
Similar situation as other people, Reddit refugee, was trying to find an instance and noticed that lemmy.ml was taken. Looking through and I found this place and immediately knew that I had to use this instance.
Not an Arch user just yet. I'm daily driving an M2 MacBook Air and I'm waiting for Asahi Linux to get better support. Using Fedora on spare devices, and I have an Arch VM that I'll get around to setting up lol, will provide great practice.
I found this instance by searching for an instance that focuses on Linux and then I saw the name and thought it was funny.
RN my only good computer is a macbook so I'm running Asahi on it.
How is it? I am thinking about installing it on my macbook too but i am worried external display will not work.
really snappy but the external speakers are not fully supported yet. I have the model with no HDMI port and just tested an external screen with a dongle... didnt work. The install is easily reversible and keeps macos installed so it's worth a try if you want to experiment.
I installed it to try it out and it seems very performant. I just noticed some bugs (also I had to use the edge kernel for changing screen brightness) and not being able to use an external monitor is a deal breaker sadly.
Similar to the others. I was on lemmy.ml but that's been down all day, so I thought I'd look for another instance and found this one on the list. Also I use arch btw.
The favicon is proving pretty confusing for me.
Yeah the favicon is irritating. This crude and cursed thing is the best concept I could come up with
I saw iusearchlinux.fyi on https://join-lemmy.org/instances and thought it was funny. Arch isn't even my main distro (i use Linux Mint/Ubuntu/Debian btw) but I do like Arch.
I hope nobody finds out what distro this server uses. Why do you prefer debian based distros for your main distro?
Yea Soren what distro does this server run on?
Tbf I run all my servers on the same one so I should be quiet.
Ubuntu 22.10
