Hi, welcome to !askitaly! Before you post here, you might want to read the rules. Generally, there are the instance rules:

We understand that for some questions it may be unavoidable to touch on the topic of illegality, discrimination, or something else. For this reason, if your question is in good faith or if it is a particular political question, your thread will not be removed regardless but will be reviewed by a mod. The instance admins can always decide to delete your threads, regardless of the community mods.

(NOTE: this does not mean that you can post whatever you want or that threads will never be removed. A question like "I did this, is this illegal?" will not be removed, but ""How can I do this without being fined/arrested?" will be blocked. That was an extreme example, but hopefully you got it).

Last but not least, titles must be explanatory, "I have a question" is not ok.

"Da Martino" strikes an interesting balance of dishes from all over the northern italian tradition.

It's not fancy by all means though, but if you are going for a more genuine taste and style...

Thank you! I'll check it out

In addition to what kind of food you're looking for, what's your budget?

A general word of advice that applies everywhere else is: stay away from restaurants in the center and places that expose their menu outside with papers in fancy serif fonts.

The type of food almost doesn't matter to me. I should have phrased the question as "what are your favorite places to eat in Milan?".

I love finding places that are "better than they should be" if that makes any sense. I don't mind spending a lot on a meal if it exceeds expectations. I am easy to please.

If you don't mind restaurant chains, I like Spontini. Classic Milan-style pizza

If you are keen to try unusual formats, I strongly recommend Pescetto (https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g187849-d4994733-Reviews-Pescetto-Milan_Lombardy.html?m=19905).

It looks like a fish shop, with a fish counter where you pick what you want and say how you want it to be cooked. The fish is fantastic.

Be aware the place is usually quite busy and you may be expected to leave soon after you are finished.

Sounds like a fun experience. Thank you!

Do you have any preference yet, in the type of food? For example, do you prefer homemade or starred restaurants?

It also depends a lot on the area you plan to stay in :)

[email protected] what did you end up going too? I’m planning a trip to Milan for this summer and came across your thread
